Fixed problem with view shed that could cause some barely visible areas to be marked as invisible, even with very large transmitter heights. (Registered Version Only) Added support for loading 8-bit BIL elevation files (previously they were always treated as grayscale imagery, now the user will be asked unless the file contains 'DEM' in the name). What's New in Version 5.02 (6/30/2003)
Added support for newer format ESRI PRJ files. Added support for repositioning most raster and elevation formats from the Overlay Control Center. To use this feature, simply right click on the layer you want to reposition in the Overlay Control Center and select the "Modify Overlay Position (Re-Rectify)". This will also let you modify the positioning/projection of imagery that has been manually rectified. Added option to force raster and elevation data created from most batch conversions to have square pixels. This helps prevent problems with less capable software like AutoCAD that doesn't handle non-square pixels correctly. (Registered Version Only) Fixed problem where files loaded from .tar.gz files that were saved to a workspace, then loaded from the workspace and saved once again to a workspace would no longer be loaded. (Registered Version Only) Added support for SRTM height files with a little endian byte order. Added support for BIL files with Intermap format headers. Made XYZ export more intelligent about how many digits it exports for each coordinate in order to generate smaller files without losing any significant precision. Fixed problem in Search By Name dialog that caused double-click recentering to not work when the global coordinate system was not the same as the native coordinate system of the file containing the object being centered on. Added help buttons to the raster and elevation options dialogs as well as the config dialog. What's New in Version 4.36 (2/6/2002)
Added online help! You can now select the Online Help option under the Help menu to open the Global Mapper manual in your browser window. Added ability to export vector data (i.e. areas, lines, points) to XYZ files containing the coordinates. (Registered Version Only) Fixed some minor bugs in E00 support that was preventing some from loading and causing attributes to not be read in correctly for others. Fixed problem that caused the "Full View" option to not work properly after overlays were closed from the Overlay Control Center. Removed reliance on specified control points in DLG-O headers. Global Mapper now calculates the data bounds at load time to prevent problems caused by incorrect control points. Allowed for loading of PRJ files that had no DATUM specified but do have a spheroid field with a recognized value (i.e. CLARKE1866). Fixed 3D DXF Mesh export to generate DXF files that work in more software packages, such as AutoCAD. (Registered Version Only) Added the filename to the description of SDTS DEM overlays in the Overlay Control Center. Allowed for hiding/showing multiple overlays at the same time from the Overlay Control Center. What's New in Version 4.35 (1/30/2002)
Fixed bug that caused vector feature selection to not work immediately after zooming or panning with the keyboard. Fixed importing of DXF files that contained blank lines or LWPOLYLINE entities. Added option to customize the collar boundaries used when auto-clipping the collar off of DRGs. This is useful when you wish to clip off more or less of the image than the automatic selection does. Added option to reverse the order of colors when using the HSV shader. Added support for Wisconsin Transverse Mercator 1983/91 (WTM83/91) projection in projection selector dialog. What's New in Version 4.34 (1/27/2002)
Added support for Arc/Info Binary Grid files. Allowed for options to be set on multiple raster/elevation overlays at a time from the Overlay Control Center. This is particlarly useful when auto-clipping the collar from lots of DRGs at a time. Fixed bug that would cause the dragging a box to zoom in while using a geographic projection would zoom to 0 N, 0 E rather than the dragged box. Added ability to capture the screen to a PNG format image. (Registered Version Only) Added ability to save 3D path profile information to an XYZ file. (Registered Version Only) Moved earth curvature settings for path profiling to line of sight dialog and corrected handling of atmospheric corrections. Fixed error when loading workspaces in which any of the referenced data files are missing. Now you will just get a warning and the remaining files in the workspace will continue to load. (Registered Version Only) Fixed area measurement in square meters. That option was previously being misdirected to use acres instead of square meters. Upgraded distance measurement to allow the selected points to remain while zooming and panning about with the keyboard. This allows a finer degree of control over what is selected. Made 16-bit grayscale GeoTIFF images be treated as elevation data regardless of whether they conform to the vertical GeoTIFF standard. This allows ASTER DEMs to be treated as elevation data. If not provided, the elevation units will be assumed to be meters. Fixed bug in alignment of Hawaiian LULC data. The wrong UTM zone was being selected for a couple of the LULC data files covering the big island. What's New in Version 4.30 (12/18/2001)
